Where the grass is higher than the waist, and the butterflies are larger than the palm of your hand, there is a castle of foliage and light. It is almost invisible among the trees, because it grows like a flower — quietly, without haste. There lives Fairy Eleanor, the ruler of the elephants.
She does not rule, does not order — she cares. The elephants come to her as to a mother, and touch her palms with their large, warm foreheads. She speaks to them in an ancient, deep language that sounds like the wind passing through the savannah.
